Following the success of WEST Brewery in Glasgow's iconic Templeton building located on Glasgow Green, owner Petra Wetzel is launching a new 160-capacity pub, WEST on the Corner.

In the space that used to play host to The Halt bar, the German-style venue will officially open in November, while in the meantime operating as a pop-up venture. Initially, interiors have been kept simple but grander plans are afoot for the full refurbishment, with plenty of wood accents and furniture by prominent Scottish designer Derek Welsh.

Exclusive new brew, WEST Woodlands Red, which is Munich Red that has been matured in a Skallywag whisky cask, is available now, alongside all the usual WEST favourites, such as the premium draught lager, St Mungo (also available in 330ml bottles), Munich Red, Hefeweizen and WEST 4.

Petra said: "I am delighted to be launching WEST on the Corner on Woodlands Road, two doors down from my old university flat. I am excited for my customers to experience the newest member of the WEST family, and of course sample WEST Woodlands Red too - we've fallen in love with maturing our beers in whisky casks!"

Keeping with the company's ethos, WEST on the Corner will only serve beer in accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516, which dictates that only barley, hops, water and yeast can be used to create a truly pure beer free from chemicals, preservatives and flavourings. The beers contain British malted barley and specialty malts from Weyermann Specialty Malts in Bamberg, Germany providing flavour and colour. The water is sourced from Loch Katrine, the hops from Hallertau (Germany) and two strains of yeast (the specifics of which remain secret).
