There has not been a new whisky distillery in the Borders for over 150 years – but R&B Distillers want to put the region back on the whisky map.

Participants are invited to vote for their favourite location in an online poll that includes popular Borders destinations such as the Tweed Valley, Peebles, Kelso, Melrose, Galashiels and Eyemouth.

It would be the region’s first distillery since 1837, and bosses believe that the new spot in the south of Scotland could give the whisky unique appeal.

Co-founder, Alasdair Day,said: “It’s really quite remarkable that somewhere as iconic as the Scottish Borders has remained untouched by whisky distilling for such a long time.

“Just like whiskies from the Highlands, Speyside or Islay, a small batch whisky distilled in the Borders will have its own unique flavour, informed by the provenance and terroir of the region. “

Participants are invited to vote for their favourite Borders location in a poll on the R&B Distillers’ website: http://rbdistillers.com/2015/07/the-big-question/

Votes close and the winning location will be announced in November 2015.
