3 Style at Sea

As part of Festival of Museums, the Irvine venue is hosting a special evening of dancing and cocktails to mark its new Style at Sea exhibition, which celebrates the opulence of ocean liners during their golden era between the 1930s and 1950s. Guests will dance the night away to the tunes of Jon Ritchie’s Swing Sensation. For those not confident in their dancing skills, Fly Right Dance Company will be on hand to provide expert tuition. A vintage hair and makeup team will also be on standby to ensure guests look their best with a photobooth provided to capture the memorable moments of the night.

The duo will take audiences on a magical journey of dance, live music and entertainment supported by celebrity guests. Audiences will hear from famous Fred fans including Twiggy, Darcey Bussell, Don Black and Bruce Oldfield, who will share stories of how the screen icon touched their lives. 5 Dolphin Watch

Revered for their intelligence and acrobatic ability, visitors to this experience have the chance to watch the largest bottlenose dolphins in the world from a high vantage point where they’ll also discover panoramic views of the harbour mouth and North Sea. The aquatic mammals are usually seen splashing around the harbour entrance in pods. Against a backdrop of noisy seabirds, watchers may also glimpse seals and even whales. Visitors are reminded to take along warm, waterproof clothing, sunscreen and drinks and snacks. Binoculars are provided by staff. In the event of bad weather, call ahead beforehand.

The pianist, bandleader and multi-platinum recording artist returns, this time accompanied by special guest Chris Difford. Jools will be performing tracks spanning his almost 40-year career, as well as songs taken from his latests duets album, Sirens Of Song. 9 Fantastic Mr Fox

First published in 1970, Roald Dahl’s tale of a smug fox’s adventures has been given a makeover with this new musical stage adaptation. Smart, clever and very self-confident, Mr Fox wages war on three horrid farmers Boggis, Bunce and Bean. Little does he know just how determined the three are to fight back in this show which is entertaining enough for young theatre fans as well as keeping older audience members on their toes with plenty of tongue-in-cheek humour. The show moves onto Glasgow’s Theatre Royal from May 23.
