Logie House Gardens

Logie House dates from the eighteenth century and it is thought that there has been a garden there for well over 200 years. Until the 1990s, it was a very formal garden with parterres, traditional herbaceous borders and a large vegetable garden. Since then, it has been redesigned in stages gradually becoming a more relaxed woodland garden.
The late Gavin Dallmeyer was the chief designer, encouraging the planting of unusual hardy shrubs and trees; his extensive knowledge was fundamental in creating the bones of the new design. For dozens of years the burn had been piped under the ground from one side of the garden to the other. Now it meanders through the trees and shrubs creating many different planting areas, each with their own microclimate, allowing for the introduction of many interesting and unusual shrubs and perennials.
Throughout the garden there is a wide range of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants, many of which are available to buy in the Logie Steading Farm & Garden Shop, where many of the plants for sale are propagated from the garden. This allows Logie to trial the different plants, to discover which are garden-worthy, and learn what conditions suit them best.
Logie House Garden is a natural and relaxed garden for the public to visit. There is also a range of amenities and activities at Logie Steading to enjoy, including the Olive Tree cafe, farm and garden shop, art gallery, bookshop, creative workshops, exhibitions, tasting events, and extensive river walks.
