Home grown talent with Les McKeown’s Bay City Roller and legendary act The Jacksons, with their full tour show, will ensure the event gets off to a great start today. Victoria Park, Glasgow Tomorrow until July 15

After the huge success of last year’s sold out tour, the event is back and visiting Scotland for the first time. A celebration of all things “Friends,” visitors can get together with their friends and immerse themselves in the world made famous by the hugely-popular ’90s TV sitcom. As well as stepping into the very best from previous years – including Monica’s apartment, Joey and Chandler’s apartment, complete with corridor, Central Perk, original memorabilia and recreate the titles – this year features a new full-scale set of Ross’s apartment. Dress up in some of the series’ most unforgettable outfits and enjoy food stalls, a cocktail bar and a Friends quiz.

Crathes Castle, Banchory Tomorrow until Sunday

Unique crafts and plenty of food will vie for your attention, together with street food and music. From local gins and beer, watercolours and prints, aromatic candles, horncraft, glass and metal furniture to celtic tweeds, silverware, patisserie, seafood, local meats, cheese, Belgian chocolates and ceramics, the list is extensive and all handmade in Scotland.

  • Glengarry Highland Games

Invergarry Shinty and Sports Field Saturday

With all the usual track and field events, interspersed with children’s races and competitions open to locals and visitors alike, expect the Lochaber Pipe Band, a parade by the Games Queen, a Highland dancing competition, a children’s fancy dress competition and a pet dog fun show, a Police Crime Prevention caravan will attend with various displays shows such as dog handling. The fire brigade also attends, with a welly boot-throwing competition. Other attractions, displays, stalls and children’s entertainments and refreshments are available throughout the day.

  • West End Beer Festival

Café Source Too, Glasgow Tomorrow and Saturday

Now in its fourth year, Glasgow’s original and leading celebration of craft beer, and independent breweries brings together the best breweries from across Scotland as well as further afield. The event gives beer lovers the chance to both sample some of the most exciting craft beers available as well as the chance to chat one-on-one with the brewers. This year, the fest will have 15 independent bars.

  • The Chicago Blues Brothers

Pitlochry Festival Theatre Sunday

A high-octane, adrenaline-pumping musical mash-up of the original Blues Brothers movies, this concert captures the sound and energy that propelled the film to cult status. This exuberant performance features songs by Aretha Franklin, James Brown, Otis Redding, Ray Charles, Tina Turner, Cab Calloway among others and an all-new, elaborate, stage set. Showcasing the best real ales Scotland’s breweries have to offer, there will also be a wide selection of real ales from Northern Ireland to sample. A wide selection of ciders and perries, sourced from producers throughout the UK, can also be enjoyed.

  • Plastic Beach and The Re(a)d Bed

City Art Centre, Edinburgh Until Sunday

Celebrate incredible Scottish-born artistic talent with these two exhibitions. Plastic Beach allows visitors to explore Robert Callender’s environmentalism through his paintings, printmaking, three-dimensional and written works. The Re(a)d Bed exhibition sees Edinburgh-born artist James Pryde’s painting part of his larger “The Human Comedy” series, characterised by its signature four-poster bed. The exhibition incorporates works from the Lothian Health Services Archive and the Alt-w Fund and features a series of works that explore the activity and interests of the Department of Clinical Neuroscience in Edinburgh.
