Floors Castle Gardens

Roxburghe Estates, Kelso,

Roxburghshire TD5 7SF

The gardens and grounds at Floors Castle are a delight to explore with your family and friends. The Walled Garden is a showpiece of seasonal colour and interest with the herbaceous borders being some of the finest in the whole of the UK.

From the regal silver and blue border by the Terrace Cafe to the fiery gradations of the hot border, the colours in the month of August will take your breath away. It is truly the best month to visit.

The Walled Garden saw new developments in 2016, with the Duchess of Roxburghe leading major changes, including the creation of a large display fruit cage and a Tapestry Garden to enhance the visitor experience.

Adjacent to the Walled Garden is the Millennium Garden. This lovely formal garden with its French-style parterre was created to commemorate the new millennium and features the intertwining initials of the present Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe. The roman numerals “MM” in box hedging signify the year 2000. On the upper terrace are varieties of heritage apple trees trained up circular frames.

Between the Castle and the Millennium Garden lies the Star Plantation, a glorious woodland garden. Here you will find a mix of mature hardwood trees, open glades and woodland shrubs. The Star Plantation takes its name from the grass avenues radiating outwards from a central lime tree, which has a delightful wrought-iron seat surrounding it.

Floors Castle & Gardens can be explored by the whole family, with an adventure playground in the Walled Garden for children to enjoy, as well as woodland and river walks and cycle trails allowing you to explore the full extent of the grounds.
