Leading industry figures and clothes lovers in Edinburgh this weekend for a variety of runway events and exhibitions and to hold discussions on the future of fashion.

In its fourth year, the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival will be attended by Scotland's own Jonathan Saunders, Vogue chief critic Sarah Mower, CEO of MUD Jeans Bert van Son, speaker Chris Breward from the Edinburgh College of Art, and professors Fleet Bigwood and Alistair O’Neill from Central Saint Martins.

Focusing on how fashion affects the environment, Zero Waste Scotland will host talks on sustainabiltiy in the fashion industry in the future.

Event founder and organiser, international model, Anna Freemantle said: "Each year the festival continues to grow, attracting internationally renowned names to join the programme. We are always overwhelmed with how popular our events are to both industry and consumers here in Scotland.

"Scotland is leading the way in many aspects of both sustainable fashion and innovation. We envisage lively debates and further partnerships to be formed over the next four days."

Organisers want to challenge the throwaway attitude that comes with buying clothes, and will also discuss digital innovation and education in the industry.

Iain Gulland, chief executive, Zero Waste Scotland, said: "We have much to think about as we work together to provide a more sustainable future for generations to come, and we look forward to the thoughts from the leading industry figures gathered here this weekend on how we can achieve our goals."

Edinburgh International Fashion Festival runs from Thursday July 23 to Sunday July 26.
