The fourth annual Glasgow University Charity Fashion Show, FOCUS 2018, raised £22,224.02 for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. Hosted at SWG3 Galvanizers on February 24th, the night featured a stunning array of unique pieces from 15 graduate fashion designers.
Glasgow University Charity Fashion Show (GUCFS) is a student-run organisation founded in 2014 by University of Glasgow students. Since its founding days, GUCFS has expanded amongst the university and beyond, boasting international relationships with designers and sponsors.
This year’s show, FOCUS 2018, concentrated on bright primary colours. Playing with angles, texture and geometry, and aspiring for a more editorial aim, the creative vision was in collaboration with the chosen charity. GUCFS “want to ensure the children treated at The Royal Hospital for Children have a place to thrive, play and discover.”
Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity works tirelessly to improve the lives of those children treated at The Royal Hospital, Glasgow, which is Scotland's largest children's hospital and treats over 168,000 children a year. The money raised will go towards enhancing medical equipment, family support systems, ground-breaking paediatric research and innovative play programmes.
In addition to funds raised on the night of the show, GUCFS society members have taken individual and group initiatives to raise awareness and money for the charity since April 2017. Fundraising activities executed over the past year include a sponsored 10k walk, santa bungee jump, swimathon and Glasgow University’s first ever Jailbreak, which raised over £3000.
