Lanterns of the Terracotta Warriors

Old College Quadrangle, Edinburgh, from tomorrow

In 1974, thousands of life-sized terracotta soldiers were unearthed from the tomb of Chinese Emperor Qin Shi Huang. This special outdoor exhibition inspired by the discovery is being held at Edinburgh University's Old College Quadrangle to celebrate tomorrow's Chinese New Year. The installation consists of around 90 brightly coloured replica figures - warriors, women, children and horses - which double as lanterns, lit daily from 4pm to 9pm until next Friday. Created by artist Xia Nan for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, it's the first time the pieces have been seen in Scotland. http://www.ed.ac.uk/news/2014/warrior-lanterns-100114
