2. Skye Festival 2016 - Feis An Eilein
Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Isle of Skye, from today [Thursday] until Sunday, July 31
This year the Skye Festival celebrates 25 years of being one Scotland's great small-venue festivals, with 70 events taking place in the south end of Skye. Opening with TOSTA - a collaboration project in several minority language communities with visiting musicians from the Basque Country – the programme includes a visiting family circus and the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland.
Traditional music comes from the great Scottish fiddlers Alasdair Fraser and Charles McKerron and the fiddle band Blazin' Fiddles. Also on the bill is the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Gilbert and Sullivan, and art exhibitions, house concerts, ceilidhs and community cafes.

3. Edinburgh International Fashion Festival

Bringing together a host of Scottish and international fashion industry figures for four days of events, the Edinburgh International Fashion Festival can be found in some of the capital's most beautiful venues including the National Museum of Scotland, the Royal College of Surgeons, and Waldorf Astoria – The Caledonian.
This year’s focus is on creating a platform for young designers and established industry professionals to discuss topics relevant to the fashion world. The programme covers gender in fashion, local and foreign talent and sustainability with expert guests and speakers from all corners of the industry, from online retailers and academics, to designers, stylists and creatives.

4. Audio Soup Festival
Harehead Farm, Cranshaws, Berwickshire, tomorrow (Friday, July 22) to Sunday, July 24
A Borders grassroots festival where indie, rock, techno, DJs and world music are the order of the day.
Acts include Laid Blak, The Correspondents, Father Funk, Mungo's HiFi and Bombskare and Audio Soup. Now in its sixth year, it has become one of the most diverse music festivals on the summer calendar and there will be 100 live bands and DJs playing.
Under-12s go free, and there is a workshop space to keep younger members of the family entertained.

5. Music at Paxton

For something a bit more classical, try Music at Paxton. Set in the magnificent surrounds of Paxton House, itself an attraction, Music at Paxton was formed in 2006 to present high quality performances of chamber music in an approachable and welcoming manner.
Since then, the festival has grown and today brings international artists to the Borders such as Alasdair Beatson, Adrian Brendel, Mahan Esfahani and Joanna MacGregor, to name but a few.

6. Jackie The Musical
King's Theatre, Glasgow from Tuesday, July 26 to Saturday, July 30
In a time before Facebook, celebrity gossip websites and fashion vloggers, every girl's bible was Jackie magazine.
Reimagined in a modern day musical that lets you relive the unforgettable fashion trends of the 70s and reminisce about new love and heartbreak, the show follows a recent divorcee who once again plunges into her old Jackie annuals for advice.
Starring Janet Dibley of EastEnders fame, Olivier Award nominee Graham Bickley and Nicholas Bailey of The Archers, Jackie the Musical is accompanied by a pulsating sound track of classic 70s hits.

7. The Real Hoosewives Fae Glesga: Wee Fat Glesga Wedding

Returning to grace the boards with a new adventure, this jukebox musical follows a night out on the town with the eponymous hoosewives.
With Donna Marie announcing her wedding date, they decide to have a 'Glesga girlie night out' at that famous city hotspot, The Come-in-thian.

8. Merchant City Music Tour: Past and Present

Walking the oldest streets of Glasgow, the tour covers cherished venues such as the mighty Barrowland Ballroom and the venerable Britannia Panopticon – Britain’s oldest surviving music hall.
The Merchant City has proved to be a creative stamping ground for everyone from Stan Laurel to Billy Connolly, Simple Minds and Franz Ferdinand.
This tour tells the story of the veteran venues which have found a new lease of life; the rich relationship between the city’s arts community and its musicians; the famous pubs frequented by folk music giants, and the newer, noisier upstarts that keep the grassroots scene growing.

9. Street Food Putter Club

The natural evolution for Glasgow's thriving street food scene, this festival combines the best of Glasgow's eats with mini-golf and ping-pong.
As well as the nine hole pop-up mini golf course and table-tennis, enjoy a post-snacking match of indoor boules. Burger Meats Bun and Bó Kantina will be green-side, while craft beers and cocktails will be available to toast a birdie or two.

10. Return to the Ridings - Kelso Civic Week
Various venues, Kelso, from today until Saturday, July 23.
For those who like horsing around, this week-long programme of events in Kelso is centred around the tradition of riding out to check the area's boundaries.
Friday will see the newly-inaugurated Kelso Laddie, a representative of the town, installed as the Kelso Whipman to commemorate the Old Whipman's Society of Ploughmen.
He then leads his mounted followers to a ceremony at the Trysting Tree, the traditional meeting place of the Whipmen. The closing Saturday will see a ride out to Yetholm and back, before the presentation of awards for the week's activities in The Square.
