What is it?

An American-style fridge-freezer packed with technology and designed to efficiently cool or freeze food in ways that maximise goodness and flavour.

We have all coveted a larger fridge-freezer at some point: be it the festive or barbecue seasons when your kitchen is crammed with leftovers you're loath to throw away or those occasions when that pesky yogurt pot won't squeeze in after a big grocery shop.

The not-so imaginatively named RF9000 from Samsung offers abundant space in a whopping 644-litre capacity with enough sleek features to stop even Gordon Ramsay from boiling over.

Good points?

The most impressive aspect of the RF9000 is the Cool Select Zone technology which can convert the bottom right compartment into either a fridge or a freezer using a customised temperature control.

This flexibility gives greater storage options without compromising space – a failing of some similar products in the past that have only offered this option in tiny shelf drawers.

There are loads of neat touches that add pleasure to the storage experience, such as foldable drawers providing more vertical real-estate for housing bottles.

Bad points?

This appliance doesn't come cheap. The water and ice dispenser requires some tricky plumbing so probably not a DIY job.

Best for ...

Those who have the kitchen space and financial means to fill its cavernous confines.

Avoid if ...

You like a quiet kitchen as there is a distinct humming that emanates from the RF9000.

Score: 9/10.
