What is it?

A body scale with more sensors than the Starship Enterprise. Gone are the days of merely weighing the humble human form. Withings has created the Body Cardio scale which delves deeper into our inner health metrics.

Various monitors are now at hand – or rather under foot – including heart rate, body mass index, overall fat percentage, total body water percentage, muscle mass, bone mass and perhaps most interestingly something called Pulse Wave Velocity which determines the overall health of your heart and the efficiency of its flow.

But that's only half the story. You need to be able to interpret these measurement numbers in order to gain a better understanding of how they equate to your wellbeing.

This is where the Health Mate app for Android and iOS comes in. It takes your data, compiles trends and makes recommendations based on key information such as your age and weight.

Good points?

The scale is simple to set up and operate with connectivity coming via WiFi or Bluetooth (so no pesky wires to tangle or trip over).

The device is slimmer than most traditional scales and can be easily hidden away. There are more features than can possibly be mentioned with sync options to countless activity trackers to help keep you motivated.

Bad points?

The amount of data can be a tad overwhelming at first and could potentially make using the system regularly seem like a bit of a faff.
