THE Herald, in proud partnership with Royal Bank of Scotland, is inviting the country’s photographers to enter their most accomplished work in a new competition which celebrates the launch of a stunning new £10 banknote design.

The new note is the result of the bank’s recent engagement with the public through social media, which saw Mary Somerville being chosen as a clear winner.

This year’s competition theme is “Scotland’s Skies” and by submitting the single best example of their work, entrants have a chance of winning £1,000 in Barrhead Travel vouchers to take the winner to their dream photographic destination. The prize also includes a professional photography lesson with a highly experienced Herald photographer.

Royal Bank of Scotland’s Scottish Board chairman, Malcolm Buchanan, said: “I can’t wait to see the standard of entries coming in over the forthcoming weeks.

“So whether you use a camera phone or an SLR, get snapping and send your photos to royalbanknote@heraldandtimes.co.uk.”

The closing date for entries is September 15 and the best entry will be announced at a drinks reception at the bank’s headquarters at St Andrew’s Square, Edinburgh, with the overall winner’s work then uploaded to Heraldscotland.com for all to appreciate.

To enter, email royalbanknote@heraldandtimes.co.uk with your photo attached, together with your name, age, address and daytime telephone number. The Editor’s decision is final.
