Ceilidh Culture, which takes place in various locations in Edinburgh, kicks off today.

This year is the 10th annniversary of the festival, which is organised by the Usher Hall. The sold-out Whisky Kiss will involve a ceilidh and a dance-off between the world champion Highland Dancers & the Scottish Champion break-dancers. It will transfer to Times Square in New York on April 2 for the 10th Dressed to Kilt fashion show, part of Tartan Week in America.

the National Library of Scotland's Scottish Screen Archive is to be relocated to Glasgow's Kelvin Hall. Cabinet Secretary for Culture Fiona Hyslop has announced a contribution of £250,000 towards the relocation, as part of the planned re-development of the hall. The Scottish Screen Archive will be developed to establish a research centre A film and video digitisation programme is planned to conserve important archival footage and make the collections accessible online.
