Nimmo's song about father has 'strange power'
SINGER songwriter Rosie Nimmo joins the festival's war-themed programme by reprising a song about her late father's exploits in the Second World War, which she premiered during her Edinburgh Fringe appearance last year at The Acoustic Music Centre at St Bride's.
He fought at Dunkirk but had never mentioned it to the family and Nimmo only found out about it 18 years after he died.
The Edinburgh singer, who appears at the same venue today at 7pm, said: "I will be doing it again as it's a song that seems to take on some strange power when we perform it."

Shagimurtova is Proms addition
SOPRANO Albina Shagimuratova, who performed Britten's War Requiem at the Usher Hall with the Edinburgh Festival Chorus on Thursday evening, has had a BBC Proms date added to her schedule on Monday.
Shagimuratova has been drafted in as a last-minute replacement for the indisposed Luba Orgonasova to perform Rachmaninov's choral symphony The Bells in the company of tenor Stuart Skelton, bass Mikhail Petrenko, the Crouch End Festival Chorus, BBC Symphony Chorus and BBC Symphony Orchestra under conductor Edward Gardner.
The concert is broadcast on Radio 3.
