Malawi Night is a fund-raising event for art and education projects in Malawi, organised by the artist Karen Vaughan and Ned Anderson, a Glasgow teacher, which will take place at BAaD (Barras Art and Design), Glasgow on July 18.

Money raised will help fund project costs such as classroom resources and artists' materials, as well as travel to Malawi in October this year.

In the weeks preceding Malawi Night there will be an online auction of work by Glasgow-based artists at www.biddingOwl.com/MalawiNight. Online bids will close at the start of Malawi Night and after that further bids will only be accepted in person.

Artists who have already agreed to donate artworks include Ciara Phillips, David Sherry, Duncan Campbell, Ian McNicol, Kate Davis, Sam Ainsley, Scott Myles, Lucy Mckenzie, Andrew Kerr, Christine Borland, James McLardy, Stephen Skrynka, Sue Tompkins, Hayley Tompkins, Ross Sinclair and Michael Wilkinson.

The duo are hoping to raise £3000 and will donate anything over and above this to the Scotland Malawi Partnership (www.scotland-malawipartnership.org)

Malawi Night will also be an evening of entertainment featuring African music from DJ Tchico
