A scheme has been introduced by the Westminster government that could open up new avenues of finance for small businesses.
The overwhelming majority of the Scottish economy is made up of companies that employ fewer than 250 people. In all, 99% of all Scottish businesses are small and medium sized, and it is them that have been hit the hardest by the economic problems of the last four years.
