Irn-Bru manufacturer AG Barr has declared that its trading performance in its final quarter to January 25 is expected to have been "well ahead" of the overall soft-drinks market.

It revealed today that its sales were up by five per cent year-on-year during this three-month period.

AG Barr said: "The highlights of the Commonwealth Games sponsorship and some strong brand innovation have helped to support the performance of AG Barr's core brands over the full year."

The company said that full-year revenue was expected to be about £259 million, up by around two per cent.
