PERTH-based Stagecoach is planning to use its new cross-channel coach service as a bridgehead into the continental market, as it eyes potential opportunities thrown up by deregulation of services in countries including Germany and Italy.
Stagecoach's Megabus brand started running services from London to France, Belgium and the Netherlands yesterday with tickets priced from £1.
Chief executive Sir Brian Souter said: "It is a toe in the water for us."
