HOUSE builder Rosewood Homes has announced plans to invest around £6 million in new developments in Lanarkshire.

The business has acquired 12,900 square metres of land in Carluke on which it intends to build homes ranging from two-bedroom flats up to five bedroom luxury detached villas.

Managing director, Lou Lauder believes the road and rail links in the village are making it increasingly popular to commuters to both Edinburgh and Glasgow.

He said: "As the Scottish property market comes back to life and new-build homes are financially more available through the Government's Help to Buy Scheme, we see the Rosewood's venture in Carluke as a solid investment.

"We are investing heavily in the area because we believe Carluke will continue to grow and prosper."

The first phase will see four and five bedroom homes built on Luggie Road in the centre of Carluke.

Mr Lauder, who was born in Carluke and still lives there, also confirmed Rosewood is completing a social housing development of 12 one-bedroom flats in the town with Clyde Valley Housing Association.

Rosewood, which has its headquarters in Livingston, is backed by Scottish entrepreneur Hugh Stewart's private equity company Coralinn.

Coralinn's other investments including Glasgow based satellite maker ClydeSpace,
