THE Agricultural Industries Confederation (AIC), the leading trade association in the agri-supply industry, is warning growers that supplies of certified seed may be limited this autumn and they should finalise their orders as soon as possible.

The wet summer and record levels of disease have led to serious challenges for those who process certified seed.

Referring to autumn sowing that is about to get under way, Paul Rooke, head of AIC's seed sector said: "Certified seed is an assured route to ensuring good establishment. This is not the season to rely on farm-saved seed without considerable investment in rigorous testing and first-class processing.
