NFU Scotland Combinable Crops chairman Andrew Moir has consulted with fellow growers on his committee and the consensus from Berwick to Easter Ross is that yield potential has been hit.

With more than an inch-and-a-half of rain on Wednesday, question marks are also hanging over grain quality, and the lack of sunshine is making grain fill an issue.

Mr Moir said: "It would appear that wheat still has some potential for good returns, but oilseed rape has disease issues now and uneven ripening making desiccation, or swathing timings, difficult.
