Sixty-three store, B&W bullocks sold to 189.5p and averaged 167.7p (+3.6p).
Wallets Marts sold 266 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of 357.1p and an average of 219.7p (-5.2p on the fortnight), while 458 store bullocks peaked at 286.5p and levelled at 231.7p (+3.1p).
John Swan Ltd sold 54 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 253p and an average of 218.8p (+2p on the week), while 24 prime bullocks peaked at 236p and levelled at 211.8p (-5p). In the rough ring 20 beef-type cows averaged 137.5p (+5.7p).
The firm also sold 2517 prime hoggs to a top of £110 per head and 251.5p per kg to average 202.2p (-23.1p), while 15 prime lambs averaged 230.7p. The 489 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £116 for Texels and average £89.14 (+£6.74), while light ewes peaked at £85 for Cheviots and levelled at £68.37 (+£13.11).
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 12 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 206.5p and an average of 181.3p (+2.6p), while 28 prime bullocks peaked at 218.5p and levelled at 182.8p (+1.5p). Thirty-three prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 217.5p and averaged 177.2p (+8.7p), while 20 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 168.5p and levelled at 144.2p (+22.6p).
In the rough ring 61 beef cows averaged 133.3p (-0.9p) and 140 dairy cows levelled at 108.2p (+0.9p). Six bulls averaged 126.6p (+12.6p).
The firm also sold 1697 prime hoggs to a top of £120.80 and 273.8p to average 206.5p (-8.1p), while 40 prime lambs peaked at £117.80 and 290p to level at 237.5p (n/a).
The 142 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £121.50 for Texels and £61.50 for Swaledales.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 19 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 253p and an average of 221.3p (-2.6p), while 8 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 234p and levelled at 209.2p (+4.2p). Nineteen prime, B&W bullocks sold to 168p and averaged 154.5p (+7.2p).
In the rough ring 17 beef cows averaged 128p (+4p) and 23 dairy cows levelled at 93p (-5p). Thirteen OTM cattle averaged 128p (+21p).
The firm also sold 2452 prime hoggs to a top of £130 and 265.3p to average 206.2p (-9.5p), while 6 prime lambs levelled at 247.7p.
The 287 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £140.50 for Texels and £87.50 for Blackfaces to average £77.96 overall (-£1.78). Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1818 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £108 and 246.5p to average 200.4p (-9.1p), while 10 prime lambs peaked at £125 and 262.5p to level at 259.4p.
The 408 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £127 for Texels and £74.50 for Blackfaces.
