Wallets Marts sold 36 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of 273.4p per kg and an average of 223.3p (+16.3p on the previous sale), while 35 store bullocks peaked at 271p and levelled at 220.7p (-4.4p).
John Swan Ltd sold 58 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 252p and an average of 212p (+4.4p), while 30 prime bullocks peaked at 231p and levelled at 210.6p (+2.6p).
In the rough ring 54 beef-type cows averaged 131.3p (-2.9p).
The firm also sold 260 prime hoggs to a top of £91 per head and 170p per kg to average £66.75 and 155p (-12p), while 323 prime lambs peaked at £95 and 211p to level at £82.55 and 188p (-10p).
The 428 cast sheep forward saw heavy ewes sell to £140 for Texels and average £81.18, while light ewes peaked at £109 for Cheviots and levelled at £63.85.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 415 prime hoggs at Ayr yesterday to a top of 172.1p and an average of 141.7p (-15.9p), while 337 prime lambs peaked at £88 and 207.5p to level at 174.3p (-18.4p).
