THE Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart sold 107 store heifers in Dumfries yesterday to a top of 246p per kg and an average of 201.4p, while 108 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 260.4p and levelled at 210.6p.
Eleven store, B&W bullocks sold to 155p and averaged 138.4p.
John Swan Ltd sold 46 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 249p and an average of 219.2p (+3.7p on the week), while 32 prime bullocks peaked at 246p and levelled at 216.1p (-3.4p).
In the rough ring, 78 beef-type OTM cattle averaged 108.3p (no change).
The firm also sold 3,187 prime lambs to a top of £99.50 per head and 229p per kg to average 178.3p (-2.3p).
The 720 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £110.50 for a Texel and £62 for Blackfaces, and averaged £54.45 overall (-£5.44).
Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 20 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 245.5p and an average of 180.5p (-17.5p), while 32 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 224.5p and levelled at 192.1p (-1.2p).
Three prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 138.5p and averaged 132.8p (-12.2p).
Forty-seven prime, beef-bred bulls sold to 237.5p and averaged 188.8p (+2.4p), while 41 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 174.5p and levelled at 148.3p (+6.2p).
In the rough ring, 84 beef cows averaged 119.6p (-2.8p) and 188 dairy cows levelled at 87.9p (+7p). Eight bulls averaged 107.5p (+0.1p). The firm also sold 2,336 prime lambs to £108.80 and 267.8p to average 185p (+7.2p).
The 108 cast sheep forward sold to a price of £87.30 for Texel ewes.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 1,701 prime lambs at Ayr yesterday to a top of £87 and 200.1p to average 173.1p (+2.4p).
There was also a plainer show of 776 cast sheep when ewes sold to £103 for a pen of Texels and £71 for Blackfaces, with the overall average levelling at £60.05 (-£2.11).
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 19 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 255p and an average of 220.5p (-6.2p), while 15 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 233p and levelled at 208.5p (-0.7p).
Eight prime, B&W bullocks sold to 176.5p and averaged 161.2p (+10.6p).
In the rough ring 19 beef cows averaged 122p (+8.2p) and 19 dairy cows levelled at 94.9p (+10.4p). Seven OTM cattle averaged 141.6p (+1.8p).
The firm also sold 2162 prime lambs to £99 and 225p to average 175.9p (+4.4p).
The 585 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £130.50 for Texels and £49.90 for Blackfaces, with the overall average levelling at £67.49 (+£6.79).
