MESSRS Craig Wilson Ltd sold 366 store heifers at their Fair Day Sale at Ayr on Thursday to a top of £1370 per head and 263.3p per kg to average £857.60 and 218.9p, while 433 store, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1360 and 277.8p to level at £942.34 and 229.8p.
Fifty-nine store, B&W bullocks sold to £855 and 178.6p to average £597.46 and 149.2p.
The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart sold 6588 prime hoggs in Longtown on Thursday to a top of £124 per head and 295p per kg to average 216.6p (-2.4p on the week). There were also 3885 cast sheep forward when heavy ewes sold to £140 for Texels and averaged £89.91 (-£9.70), while light ewes peaked at £82 for Blackfaces and levelled at £54.72 (-£8.32).
Rams sold to £170 for a Texel and averaged £101.37 (+£3.54).
