WALLETS Marts sold 560 prime hoggs in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of £101.50 per head and 228.3p per kilogramme to average 197.7p (-13.5p on the week).
The 217 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £92 for Scotch Mules and £71 for Blackfaces to average £64.34 overall (-£6.98).
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 16 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1332.80 per head and 238p per kg to average £1127.01 and 211.6p.
Meanwhile seven prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at £1527.60 and 240p to level at £1279.63 and 216.6p.
Eight prime, B&W bullocks sold to 170p and averaged 162.9p, while 2 prime bulls sold for 207p and 178p.
In the rough ring 49 beef cows averaged 127.9p and 91 dairy cows levelled at 106.8p.
Six bulls averaged 122.8p and 8 OTM cattle levelled at 157.4p.
The firm also sold 46 grass-calving, B&W cows and heifers and 108 stock, B&W cows and heifers off Langlands, Tarbolton.
Top prices and averages: Grass-calving cows to £1100 and averaged £876 for 15; grass-calving heifers £1400 and £1170.97 for 31.
The Langlands dispersal saw cows sell to £2450 and heifers to £2500, with the overall average levelling at £1414.
