Wallets Marts had 1,675 prime lambs forward in Castle Douglas yesterday that included a lot of heavy lambs and sold to a top of £90 per head and 205.1p per kg to average 171.8p (+5.4p on the week).
The firm also had 205 cast sheep forward when ewes sold to £117 for Suffolks and £54 for Blackfaces.
Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 86 store heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 266.3p per kg and an average of 201p, while 130 store bullocks peaked at 253.4p and levelled at 209.4p.
Messrs Craig Wilson Ltd sold 18 prime heifers at Ayr yesterday to a top of £1,386 per head and 234p per kg to average £1,194.41 and 219.1p, while five prime bullocks peaked at £1,371.45 and 223p to level at £1,209.96 and 211.9p.
In the rough ring 70 beef cows averaged 114.8p and 136 dairy cows levelled at 84.5p. Five bulls averaged 85.4p and 16 clean, OTM cattle under 36-months levelled at 170.4p.
Another good show of 21 dairy cattle met a firm trade selling to £2,050 for an Ayrshire heifer and averaged £1,574.
