The National Farming Union (NFU) for England and Wales has appointed Andy Robertson as its new director general.
Mr Robertson, who will take up the role in the autumn, is a former Chief Executive of NFU Scotland and prior to that served the Government as Scotland's Chief Agricultural Officer.
Mr Robertson, who is currently working as assistant director for Transport and Environment in East Sussex County Council, said: "I am delighted with this opportunity to lead the NFU and to work back in an organisation that I passionately believe in and care about."
