THE Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), the NFU for England and Wales, the National Beef Association (NBA), and the British Veterinary Association have all welcomed a High Court ruling that will allow badger culls to proceed.

Defra's plans to cull badgers this autumn in two pilot areas in the south of England had been challenged by The Badger Trust which had sought to get the policy overturned.

Defra said the cull would now go ahead as soon as possible.
