Top prices and averages: Scotch Mule ewe lambs to £99 and averaged £85.70 (-£3.02 on the year) for 2,155; Blackface ewe lambs £94 and £58.50 (-£8.18) for 769.

Store lambs: Texels £59 and £55.29; Suffolks £53 and £49.33; Mules £51; Blackfaces £52 and £42.45.

Wallets Marts sold 156 store heifers in Castle Douglas yesterday to a top of 219.5p per kg and an average of 203.7p, while 222 store bullocks peaked at 245.1p and levelled at 215.1p.

In the rough ring 68 OTM cattle averaged 105.4p.

John Swan Ltd sold 43 prime heifers in St Boswells yesterday to a top of 251p and an average of 225.4p (+9.4p on the week), while 27 prime bullocks peaked at 246p and levelled at 219.1p (+2p).

In the rough ring 32 ­beef-type cattle averaged 132.9p (-1p).

The firm also sold 1,795 prime lambs to a top of £85 per head and 189p per kg to average 153p (no change).

The 516 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £90 for Texels and £71 for Lleyns to average £56 overall.

Harrison & Hetherington Ltd sold 22 prime heifers in Carlisle yesterday to a top of 237.5p and an average of 200.9p (+0.9p).

At the same venue, 21 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 231.5p and levelled at 186.8p (-12.9p).

Eight prime, dairy-bred bullocks sold to 157p and averaged 134.6p.

Forty-nine prime, ­beef-bred bulls sold to 221.5p and averaged 188.3p (+3.7p), while 55 prime, dairy-bred bulls peaked at 186.5p and levelled at 147.1p (-1.9p).

In the rough ring, 90 beef cows averaged 132.9p (+7.2p) and 159 dairy cows levelled at 98.6p (+4.6p).

Eight bulls averaged 126.7p (+14.5p).

The firm also sold 2,747 prime lambs to £101.30 and 242.3p to average 159.7p (+2p).

The 234 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £111.50 for Texels and £45.50 for Swaledales.

Lawrie & Symington Ltd sold 20 prime heifers in Lanark yesterday to a top of 250p and an average of 219.5p (-7.2p), while 14 prime, beef-bred bullocks peaked at 247p and levelled at 212.6p (+9.6p).

Thirteen prime, d­airy-bred bullocks sold to 199.5p and averaged 152.4p (+2.6p).

In the rough ring 32 beef cows averaged 123p (-3p) and 14 dairy cows levelled at 76p (-10p). Nine OTM cattle averaged 124p (+10p).

The firm also sold 2,563 prime lambs to £85 and 189.8p to average 150.9p (+0.4p).

The 1,008 cast sheep forward saw ewes sell to £137.50 for a Texel and £60.50 for Blackfaces, with the ­overall average levelling at £50.17 (-£2.83).
