MORE than 270 Scottish retail firms face a high risk of going bust in the next year, and 26% of businesses in this sector north of the Border are considered at risk of failure against the grim economic backdrop.
These dire figures come from an analysis by insolvency trade body R3 of the Bureau van Dijk "Fame" database. This analysis also shows 30 hotel businesses in Scotland have a high risk of failing in the next 12 months. A further 137 hoteliers are viewed as vulnerable to insolvency in the coming year – meaning 18% of all businesses in this sector in Scotland are considered at risk.
