MORE than 80 per cent of female entrepreneurs in Scotland are seeking access to enterprise support, finance and market opportunities, a survey of women business owners has found.

The Women's Enterprise Scotland survey found the majority of women run microbusinesses, with personal savings the main source of finance.

But WES chief executive Margaret Gibson said: "The general perception was that [gaining] investment for future business growth was more problematic."

Ms Gibson said the majority of respondents favoured "flexible business support" and access to a range of services, and would like to see more female role models and mentors.

WES yesterday launched its second group of Women's Enterprise Scotland Ambassadors to address the issue.
