IAN Livingston says if he ever claims the job of reforming BT is done "take me out and shoot me".

Yet Mr Livingston has clearly made great progress in turning the company around.

In his first set of annual results, Mr Livingston had the embarrassment of unveiling a loss thanks in large part to over-optimstic contract assumptions. Dividends were slashed and thousands of posts were cut.
