STEPHEN Good has been appointed as chief executive of the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre, the body set up to drive collaboration between industry and academia.

Mr Good takes up the role full-time at the end of the month, having held the post on an interim basis since March.

He joins from his role as director of the iQ Building Futures Lab, part of Scottish construction and manufacturing group CCG.

Mr Good, an architect, joined CCG in 2007 and helped lead the delivery of its £12 million offsite timber closed panel production facility in 2010.

In 2011 he set up the iQ lab, which is focused on helping the construction industry meet low carbon targets.

Before working for CCG he spent nine years at Glasgow-based architects Anderson Bell + Christie, latterly as an associate.

He is a member of the leadership groups of Construction Industry Scotland and Scottish Forest & Timber Technologies; and a member of the Homes for Scotland technical and environmental advisory group.

Mr Good said: "Having been involved for the last 18 months as part of the industry group which compiled the bid submitted to the Scottish Funding Council to establish the innovation centre, I am looking forward immensely to the new job and maximising the opportunities for long-term economic growth."

The appointment of Mr Good was confirmed shortly before Construction Scotland holds its annual conference at the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow on October 7. Interim chairman Bill McBride tipped him to make an immediate impact when he takes up the role full-time.
