New investment chief for Rathbone

RATHBONE Investment Management has appointed Cherie Hamoudi as investment director in its Edinburgh office.

Ms Hamoudi, who has more than 26 years' financial services experience, joins from Barclays wealth and investment management division.

In her new role, she will have responsibility for managing portfolios for private clients and their trusts, self-invested personal pensions and charities.

Ms Hamoudi began her career at stockbroker Torrie & Co and has subsequently had spells with Albyn Investments and Turcan Connell.

She joins Rathbones as it prepares to open a new office in Glasgow.

David Macaulay, regional director at Rathbones in Edinburgh, said: "Rathbones' operations in Scotland account for a significant proportion of our overall assets under management and our Edinburgh office is a major hub for the business.

"Despite this scale, we remain focused on our primary aim of providing a highly personalised, high quality investment service."

Deloitte adds to corporate division

DELOITTE has added to its corporate finance team in Edinburgh by bringing Alan Hamilton on board as a director.

Mr Hamilton brings considerable experience of the leveraged and corporate lending sector to the role, as well as skills in debt structuring and credit risk assessment.

He joins from Clydesdale Bank, where he was head of corporate for the east of Scotland and was previously head of acquisition finance.

He has also held director positions with Bank of Scotland and Bank of Ireland, having trained for his CA with Coopers and Lybrand.

Mr Hamilton will advise mid-market firms on securing access to finance and support their objectives in his new roles.

Deloitte partner John Reid said: "As the recovery takes hold and more companies look to grow, access to the right level of finance on attractive terms can prove a challenge for many mid-market companies in the current climate. There are great opportunities for businesses to expand, but they need solid, informed advice on how to finance their plans.

"With a strong background in banking, Alan has everything required to do that."
