LAW firm Pinsent Masons has appointed litigator Bruce Craig to its 30-strong oil and gas team in Aberdeen.
Mr Craig will head the firm's litigation and regulatory practice in the city, focusing on oil and gas, shipping and health and safety.
He was formerly managing partner of law firm Mackinnons, where he was a partner since 1993.
Mr Craig joins Pinsent Masons shortly after the arrival of Paul McGoldrick and four other oil and gas specialists from Bond Dickinson, and Osama Hassan, a corporate lawyer specialising in energy.
He said: "After almost 25 years at Mackinnons I am delighted to be joining Pinsent Masons, which gives me an international stage to extend the work I already do nationally in oil and gas, shipping and health and safety.
"Joining one of the largest energy teams in the UK will provide a range of opportunities for me to develop the client base I have worked to build up over the years."

EDINBURGH law firm Davidson Chalmers has appointed Simone Young as its new head of construction.
Ms Young, who joins from Lindsays, will work closely with the commercial property, planning and renewable energy team as the firm looks to expand in a range of sectors across Scotland.
She specialises in non-contentious construction law and has experience in acting for all parties involved in the construction sector, having worked with organisations such as Edinburgh University, Heriot-Watt University, The Scottish Historic Buildings Trust and The Scottish Youth Hostel Association.
Andrew Chalmers, managing partner at Davidson Chalmers, said: "It's a great coup to have recruited someone with Simone's considerable construction expertise and experience. She will be able to add another dimension to the services we offer to our clients. This is an exciting time for Davidson Chalmers, with a number of significant new client wins and the on-going recruitment of new fee earners and staff across the firm."
Ms Young said: "I am delighted to be joining the Davidson Chalmers team. I'm looking forward to working with new and existing clients over the coming months and helping the firm move forward to achieve even greater success."

TOURIST attraction The Royal Yacht Britannia in Edinburgh has appointed Elliot Johnston as their first head of visitor and retail experience.
Prior to joining Britannia, Elliot was general manager of Dobbies Garden Centre and Butterfly World at Lasswade, the largest Dobbies outlet in Scotland.
Bob Downie, chief executive at The Royal Yacht Britannia said: "We are delighted to have recruited someone with Elliot's outstanding retail and operational experience to further strengthen our Management Team, and help ensure that Britannia remains Scotland's best visitor attraction for many years to come."
