Marketing Edinburgh's new man

MARKETING Edinburgh has appointed Paul Wakefield as its new head of marketing and commercial.

Mr Wakefield has spent more than 14 years in marketing, communications and senior management roles with companies such as Bell Ingram, Maximillion Events and Scottish Land & Estates.

He will focus on business development and revenue growth as part of the extended remit his new role entails, including the development of the new Marketing Edinburgh Corporate Partnership.

Mr Wakefield said: "I'm delighted to join the team at Marketing Edinburgh. I'm very clear about what needs to be done to strengthen the organisation.

"Marketing Edinburgh is building momentum, and we need to be even more commercially focused and build stronger partnerships to ensure we have the funds to market this city in the way it deserves."

Chief executive John Donnelly said: "Paul's fresh and collaborative attitude and approach is going to take the promotion of Edinburgh to the next level."

World sales chief for Nautronix

NAUTRONIX, the Aberdeen-based supplier of underwater acoustic systems for the oil and gas sector, has appointed Thomas McCudden as global sales manager.

Mr McCudden will be responsible for raising awareness and global sales of the company's NASNet positioning technology.

Before joining Nautronix, he worked in the oil and gas, telecommunications and finance sectors in roles with IET, FreeAgent, BT and, latterly, Coda Octopus.

Donald Thomson will continue to be responsible for sales of the company's NASCoM, NASDrill and NASDive products around the world.

Nautronix chief executive Mike Patterson said: "Thomas brings over 15 years of experience with him to Nautronix and his experience is exactly what we need to increase our sales efforts.

"By focusing the efforts of Thomas and Donald on the opportunities we have for our product lines it will enable us to continue to grow the business further."

Recruitment experts at Brightwork

THE Brightwork Group has hired two new consultants, Rebecca Fox and Emily Coyle, to its specialist recruitment team.

Ms Coyle has joined the group's candidate management team to assist in fulfilling its growing volume of vacancies. She joins with more eight years' experience within the hospitality industry where she ran venues in Glasgow such as the Corinthian, Polo Lounge and Arta.

Ms Fox, a graduate in Human Resource Management from the University West of Scotland, will work on the group's professional contractor desk.

She has worked within the drinks industry in new product development.

Shan Saba, director of Brightwork's specialist recruitment team, said: "Both Emily and Rebecca are live wires who will fit in perfectly.

"They are both determined to get stuck in to find the right candidates for the many exciting roles in Scotland's logistics and distribution sector."
