Two new partners as EY expands

ACCOUNTANCY firm Ernst & Young (EY) has recruited two partners to expand its government and public-sector practice in Scotland.

Stephen Reid has joined from KPMG to lead EY's Scottish public-sector and education assurance teams.

Neil MacLean will take charge of its advisory team in Scotland.

Mr Reid played a key role in producing the Audit Scotland report about Scotland's public finances, Preparing For the Future, during a part-time secondment to the public body in 2009.

More recently he led KPMG's Scottish higher education and not-for-profit internal audit practices.

Mr MacLean has more than 20 years' experience in delivering business transformation and performance improvement projects to public and private organisations.

He has worked with local authorities, central government, utilities, oil and gas firms and financial services.

Paul Gallagher, head of government and public services at EY Scotland, said: "We've made real strides in the public sector in recent years.

"Making two appointments of this calibre means we're even better positioned to help leaders in this crucial arena make the strategic decisions demanded by its complex and ever-changing environment."
