All our yesterdays came back to haunt us when a first edition copy of Jackie was unearthed in a charity shop in Derbyshire. The weekly magazine – a hot favourite with girls anxious to learn how to apply make-up, lure boys and kiss them with sufficient success that they didn't then escape – was cooked up in Dundee by DC Thomson in 1964. A best-seller during the 1970s, it blossomed until 1993 before dying of natural causes (bad circulation).
