Mind you, Ed Miliband's claim that the Prime Minister physically threatened Jesse Norman – no, not the opera singer, but the rebel Tory MP for Hereford – has at least succeeded in arousing public interest in the tedious issue of Lords reform. Perhaps the PM should play Flashman more often – the public like a strong man at the top, even if he does turn a politically inappropriate shade of red.
