It's been a good week for...

women footballers

After a stooshie over discrepancies in travel arrangements for their Olympic teams, Japanese Football Association (JFA) officials have confirmed that their women players were upgraded to business-class flights for their trip home.

The female squad had complained that, on the way to London, they had to fly premium economy while their male counterparts flew business class. This, despite the women being world champions – unlike the men. The JFA claimed the men's team had flown business class because they were professionals. In the end, the women came home with silver. The chaps came home with nothing. I think we can work out which team really plays top-flight football.
