IT may be advisable to inform Michelle Mone ("Mone challenges "smart" Sturgeon after claim cybernats forced her out of country".

The Herald, June1) that everyone who places their views in the public eye is liable to receive attacks, many of which are anonymous. Irrespective of your point of view, unfortunately, there are those among us who consider it their right to cravenly insult and threaten those with another belief to their own. We would only descend to these people's level if we allow their actions to silence us or cause us to run away.

To describe these people with the lazy term "cybernats" is also absurd. I and many others received anonymous correspondence from "cyberunionists" both insulting and threatening but we did not immediately rush to a publicist to blame Ruth Davidson for their actions. Neither did we decide to flee the country, perhaps because our previous statements had not backed us into a corner and we needed to seek justification for our actions.

I will bow to Ms Mone's knowledge of fake tanning and lingerie but I would suggest that her description of Scotland today says much more about herself and her world view. I have always found Scotland and Scots enormously helpful and appreciative of entrepreneurial effort, but maybe that was because I have always sought the positive in myself and others.
