Your editorial on Julian Assange and his bid for asylum in Ecuador misses the point ("Diplomatic immunity can't protect Assange", The Herald, August 17).
The allegations in Sweden are serious and I make no comment on their accuracy. Certainly Mr Assange has demonstrated himself on a number of occasions to be an unpleasant individual with a very strange notion of how to treat women, but at the same time the timing of the allegations raises suspicion to say the least.
