THE comments made by George Galloway with regard to the activities of Julian Assange are a distraction ("Galloway's party leader attacks rape comments", The Herald, August 22).
It has been reported that the Swedish police simply wish to interview Mr Assange about the alleged offence and, if that is true, the solution is quite simply for the Swedes to send the appropriate people to this country to interview Mr Assange. Rather than deport him the British authorities should make available appropriate facilities to accommodate such interviews in a manner that would meet the Swedish and international legal requirements of a proper interview.
