Tim Hopkins, director of the Government-funded gay pressure group the Equality Network, states that the Bishop of Aberdeen's remarks that same-sex marriage could also lead to polygamy and incest are "offensive and uncalled for".
("Outcry over bishop's gay marriage jibe", The Herald, August 4). Could he tell us why?
So far those in favour of same sex-marriage, including David Cameron, Lynne Featherstone and the Equality Network, have given as their reason "two people who love one another should be able to get married". Indeed, the Equality Network exists to provide equal marriage. Therefore it is incumbent on them to explain why this equality does not extend to two brothers who love one another. Far from being an uncalled for and offensive question, it is a logical and reasonable question. Sadly, logic and reason do not seem to be playing a big part in this emotive campaign.
