Michael Tumelty speculated that Liszt played at the George Hotel in Glasgow ("Liszt's tour of Scotland revealed", Arts, July 7).

In fact his concerts were held in the Assembly Rooms in Ingram Street, built in 1796 by Robert and James Adam. When they were demolished in 1890 to make way for an extension to the Post Office building, the entrance was preserved as the Maclellan Arch, now on Glasgow Green opposite the High Court.
