Your report of the employee survey at Transport Scotland is is not consistent with the actual findings ("Survey reveals morale slump at Transport Scotland", June 27).
The findings of the employee survey were proactively published by Transport Scotland last January at the same time as the parallel findings for the rest of the Scottish Government. The key measure of employee engagement relates to how positive our staff are, their commitment and motivation. Our employee engagement index was 59%, three percentage points above the civil service average of 56%. It also compares well with the 57% for the rest of the Scottish Government. We received positive responses on a range of questions, with a high level of interest in the work we do, having the right skills to do the job well and a clear understanding of our purpose and how this contributes towards sustainable economic growth.
