Hearing of the death of Lord Morris of Manchester, who championed the rights of people with disabilities, prompts me to write of the disappointment we have felt since my husband became eligible to use a Blue Badge to park in disabled parking areas (Obituaries, August 16).

Often these spaces are being taken up by cars which do not display any entitlement to do so.

We remember a sign in the disabled parking area of a supermarket in France. Translated it read: "If you take my space take also my disability."
