Our son was born five years ago in the Southern General Hospital, Glasgow.
The senior midwife responsible for the labour ward when we arrived was Mary Doogan. At the end of her shift she was relieved by Connie Wood. Both of these midwives impressed us with their professionalism and team management. They were simply excellent ("Midwives' abortion battle", The Herald, January 18).
